I never really thought about how lucky we are to have things like air conditioning, ice, and free potable water. But I can imagine how Europeans might be surprised by these things. After all, if you’re used to cooler temperatures and drinking water straight from the tap, you might not see the need for A.C. or ice. 

But as someone who has lived through many a scorching summer day, I can say that air conditioning and ice are truly lifesavers. And don’t even get me started on the joy of being able to drink tap water without worrying about getting sick. America is looking pretty good right now…
