Customer service employees are often powerless when it comes to dealing with rude customers. Many companies operate under the mantra, “The customer is always right.” Uh, sure. Plenty of employees have found ways to exert a small level of control over unruly and rude customers.
For example, box office employees have the power to affect your theater experience. It pays to be nice to them. Some former employees have stated that if a customer has to exchange theater tickets for another day, they’ll give them really bad seats if the customer in question is rude. If a customer is nice and decent, the box office clerk has the power to give out better seats than the original.
