Lilies of the Field
Can you imagine filming a whole movie in just 14 days? That’s something that would make any Hollywood director have a slight heart attack just by thinking about it. But believe it or not, Ralph Nelson managed to film all the scenes of Lilies Of The Field in just two weeks! That’s some great project management skills.
But Ralph Nelson wasn’t the only cast member who made compromises. In order to make Lilies of the Field, Sidney Poitier made a savvy business decision to forego his typical salary and instead opted for a percentage of the movie’s profits. This strategic move proved to be beneficial for Poitier, as it ultimately led to him winning an Academy Award for Best Actor.
